"By All Accounts The US War...

...on terror is going well." I was recently chided in a rather doltish manner for saying that once. Though I had backed the statement up with facts, the pretentious browbeaters who disagreed piled on, (but never on my site) , as if the entire world agrees with their view. It doesn't.

The next time you read of an insurgent killing innocent Iraqis and a handful of US troops, be reminded that there are no insurgents fighting back in Iraq, only terrorists.

Fact: Since Iraq has been freed of Sadaam's reign of terror, far fewer innocent Iraqis have died and suffered.
Fact: Terrorists have been foiled time and again on Western soil from murderering innocent people.
Fact: Iran and N Korea tremble and quake over the prospect of a US led takeover of their terrorist regimes.
Fact: Islamic terrorists will not negotiate. They will not e satisfied until Israel, the West and anyone who does not worship as they do are dead.
Fact: Our troops have enjoyed unprecedented success in destroying a despicable and evil enemy of the world.

Comments:
Chip, sorry if my cheerful vulgarity was too harsh.

But you didn't say the "war on terror" was going well, you said, in a thread about Iraq, "by all accounts the war is going well" and then cited examples from Iraq, and closed with the statement, "you don't leave and redeploy when you are winning."

Deposing Saddam was a good deed, and the US military is feared by anyone with any sense, but the war in Iraq is not going well, by most accounts of which I'm aware, much less all accounts.

Potato- I just don't have time right away, but if the reports are true about Sadaam (hundreds of thousands in various mass graves) and really no one has disputed them, there is no way our troops have destroyed near as many.

An insurgent is a rebel against a government, a terrorist murders people who do not believe as he/ does. Insurgents were responsible for the Boston Tea Party. A terrorist sends his 8 year old son to blow up Jews, or Westeners or Christians or whoever disagrees with his faith.

ed- point taken.

I don't buy it, about the insurgents I mean. They are targeting anyone who is involved with us.

also, if you look at sadaam's last years after desert storm, there will beenough for years to come.

We would not still be in Iraq if we were not invited guests. The military targets make no difference- and here is why. The purpose of the violence is clearly to intimidate innocent people in Iraq. Anyone who opposes their radical beliefs is an enemy. We know this beyond doubt in the middle east.
