Jim Melvin's 1st Letter To Editor
Dad told us Jim Melvin wrote his 1st ever letter to the editor. Melvin challenges us to be less partisan and more American regarding terrorists.

Although I don't know any more than I am speculating, when former Mayor Melvin writes to the paper, I'd expect the signature to be appended with something like, "The writer is a former Mayor..." or something like that. There was nothing to indicate which Jim Melvin it was; it could easily have been the former mayor or another person named Jim Melvin (which is his son's name, too).
I can't yet say this is the Jim Melvin that you reference. Perhaps Allen could clarify. Just personally, it doesn't sound like *that* Jim Melvin, but I don't know. Pure speculation.

I don't know if it is THAT Jim Melvin, either, although I suspect it is. In any case, we have published many letters from the former mayor Jim Melvin over the years.
It was Melvin's letter. Dad told us that Jim's secretary read him the reaction on the Letters blog. Sue-there's a neighbor of yours who responded.
