Sticks and Stones Are Less Painful
No, I'm not advocating violence. Just emphasizing that words hurt long after bruises are gone.
I'm reading Gitomer's book on sales and he makes a point about calling a loved one expressing your love. He says it is not motivational, rather it is inspirational. Of course many books have been written about surrounding yourself with positive influences, even after we are adults.
The Bible encourages us to communicate carefully.

- Proverbs 12:18Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
- Proverbs 18:21The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
- James 3: 5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.
- 1 Peter 3:10For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.
