The Problem With (Real) Trolls

"When I ignore them, lies are perpetuated and assumed to be true. When I respond, I am belittled as a self-promoter, whiner, humorless scold, and opportunist ...But when the attacks come from a publicly subsidized UNC law professor and the largest blog conglomerate (valued at $76 million in 2005), they cannot go unanswered...
Someone created a fake Flickr site by filching photos from an innocent college undergrad's Webshots site without her permission or knowledge. That student is Ashley Herzog of Ohio University... Whoever created the fake Flickr site went to the trouble of posting a photo of a dorm from my alma mater to give it authenticity.
Some people still refuse to believe it's all fake." Michelle Malkin

Comments:
Chip, you know I'm a liberal, but the smear of Malkin was inappropriate and epitomizes a lot of the negativity that is on all sides. It seems like people are more interested in catching someone screwing up than praising someone who is actually doing some good. There are serious issues that deserve serious debate, and I feel that too much time is wasted on back and forth "gotchas". Besides, a picture of a woman in a bikini on spring break hardly qualifies as any of the derogatory terms used.

Amen
